Knitted Together: Fund a Year of Creativity for Refugee Women

At the Female Friendly Space in our Community Center for refugees in Serres, Greece, knitting and crocheting are an essential part of everyday moments. Women sit together, working at their own pace, hands busy with yarn while conversations unfold naturally. Many of them have faced uncertain, difficult journeys, and they can find calm and resilience out of crafting beautiful pieces.

To keep this connection going, we want to provide 1 ball of yarn per woman, per week.

With your generous donation, we can purchase a years’ supply of yarn for every woman who attends the Female Friendly Space. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help women express their creativity!

Why Wool Matters

For women rebuilding their lives after displacement, creative work offers something powerful:

  • The pride of finishing a tangible piece

  • The comfort of familiar techniques

  • The calm of creating alongside women with similar lived experiences

Through knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and other crafts, women can consistently express themselves and learn within a safe environment. Your donation keeps the thread going.

The Thread that Binds Us

The beautiful photos featured here come from The Thread That Binds Us, a photography exhibition created by the Female Friendly Space. The women photographed their own creations—sweaters, scarves, hats, and more—to highlight the beauty and care woven into their work.
