WE’RE ON THE GROUND IN TURKEY

Lifting Hands International is providing critical aid to displaced families in Turkey affected by the devastating recent earthquakes. Your support today will make an immediate and meaningful difference.

More than 1.7 million of those in the quake zone were already refugees from the Syrian war. Their world has been turned upside down once more. Tens of thousands killed. Millions displaced — again.

“There are literally thousands of piles of rubble. Only a fraction have been sifted through. It’s sobering to drive by knowing there are people in there. It’s very surreal and very painful. The scale is just staggering.”
- LHI Founder and Director Hayley Smith

We spent a half hour with this family who now live in a tent city in the middle of Kahramanmaraş, epicenter of the earthquake. They lost their home and all of their belongings. The tents are provided by the Turkish government.

“I remember the 70’s earthquake, the 90’s earthquakes. But this latest one was the worst.”

Lifting Hands International specializes in helping those who have been displaced by conflict or natural disaster. We fill gaps and rapidly adapt to conditions on the ground in ways larger organizations often can’t.

Our teams in both Turkey and the United States are working to source and distribute exactly what people are asking for: tents, heaters, water filters, blankets, power banks, food staples, and hygiene supplies.

Members of LHI's medical team in Turkey provide physical and psychosocial support to earthquake survivors.

Survivors of natural disasters often feel a sense of abandonment and sorrow when the initial flurry of help dies down. It’s crucial to continue the psychosocial support people need to overcome trauma. That’s why, in addition to providing critical aid supplies to displaced earthquake survivors, LHI’s teams of experts are providing physical and psychological support to thousands. Healing cannot start without relief items, medical aid, and the important support network we provide.

We need your help to power our programs helping displaced families and individuals in Turkey. Every dollar you can spare will make a vital difference in the lives of those who need it most right now.
