Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services

The Clinical Services Unit’s efforts are dedicated to helping those members of the community who seek help in resolving family problems or overcoming addictions or who suffer from diverse mental health problems. The Unit's goal is to help clients have a more centered and fulfilling life by providing culturally competent counseling and case management and support services.

Some of the programs offered are:

  • The Counseling Center at LHI - Mental Health Outpatient Clinic:    The core purpose of the Counseling Center is to enhance the quality of life and improve the mental health status of Latinos. Our staff works within the client's cultural value system and acknowledges the imprtance of family and community, personal respect, responsibility and dignity, and a strong spiritual life.
  • Oasis - Substance Abuse Outpatient Clinic:  This program provides substance abuse clinical case management and treatment to Latinos. Services include individual counseling, group treatment, psycho-education, case management and referrals. The overall goal of Oasis is to reduce the prevalence of substance abuse and addiction in the Latin American community. The clinic focuses particularly on the impact of substance abuse on HIV transmission and also includes a Driver Alcohol Education Program.
  • Mi Familia - Home-Based Services:  This home-based program offers culturally and linguistically competent therapeutic and case management services to Latin American and other minority families. Under contract with the Department of Social Services (DSS), Mi Familia provides intensive family-focused, strength-based interventions to families in transition or in crisis. The primary goal of the Mi Familia team is to help preserve families and ensure the healthy development of children.
